LOVE COMES IN ALL COLORS. June is Prided Month. Our niece, family and friends joined in the festivities in the Bay Area. This year’s theme was RESISTANCE–RESIST HATE and BIGOTRY. Celebrations across the nation and the world honored love and diversity. Happy Pride to everyone.

What a marvelous day I spent with friends at the Rosie the Riveter/

WW ll Home Front National Historic Park Open daily 10 to 5 in Richmond.

The highlight was listening to a talk by Betty Reid Soskin.  At age 95 she’s the oldest US park ranger in the nation Learn more about Betty Reid Soskin

My guest Betty Bainbridge Vitez from Ohio, and several friends enjoyed displays and films celebrating how women and minorities entered the workforce and changed America forever.  We enjoyed a tasty lunch next door at ASSEMBLE Restaurant, part of the historic CRANEWAY PAVILION

THE CRANEWAY PAVILION houses the restaurant.  The stunning 45,000 sq ft modern venue has been creatively re-tooled brought to life from the original 1930 Ford Assembly Plant. It’s where the Rosies made tanks, jeeps and armored cars.

Road to Rio? TRAIN to TRUCKEE

Try it you’ll like it! My granddaughter age three and I had ball on our recent train trip to Truckee. The ride took 5 ½ enjoyable hours. Amtrack trains head for Truckee each day from the Emeryville Station. We left at 9:10am. It’s cool to give the conductor your paper ticket. The best views are from the Observation Car, with its clear-light windows and comfy cushioned seats. Lunch was available in the dining car.  We chatted with other passengers from near and far. Some folks were signed up for the sleeper cars, destined for Denver or Chicago. We arrived at 2:38pm. After exploring the train museum, we boarded the TART bus which dropped us at our doorstep in Squaw Valley. Can’t wait to take the train again!

Police say that’s a key to staying safe. Help your neighbors and they’ll help you. Our National Night Out pot luck last night was fun! My Berkeley/Oakland neighborhood is a tapestry of ages. Some folks just moved in, others have lived here 50 years or more! The mission of National Night Out is to build community and better relationships with the police. Find out more!
