CHOCOLATE & BEER FESTIVAL!

Posted in NEIGHBORHOOD on February 10, 2012 by Julie Nachtwey, the Claremont Hills Real Estate Expert

Like Chocolate? Beer? Bands?

These are a few of our favorite things.

The 3rd Annual Chocolate & Beer Festival is tomorrow SAT Feb 11 from 2 to 6pm

at The Craneway Pavilion near Pt. Richmond.

http://www.craneway.com/Events/Details/li/3rdAnnualChocolateBeerFestival

This event is for everyone who has a sweet tooth

or appreciates good brew.  It brings together the

tastes we love -  chocolate and beer – and live music!

Two of my neighbors are local entrepreneurs

with a very popular Rockridge establishment.

Bittersweet Chocolate Cafe www.bittersweetcafe.com

Their chocolate cafe is among the local

chocolatiers showing off their tasty treats

at The Craneway’s Chocolate & Beer Festival.

And then there’s the beer from local breweries…

where do I begin?

Taste and compare for yourself!

Proceeds from Craneway’s Chocolate & Beer Festival

go to the Children’s Learning Center, which provides

quality alternative education for children with

special needs.

See you there!

TAKE TIME TO WALK ON THE WILD SIDE

Posted in FUN THINGS TO DO on December 21, 2011 by Julie Nachtwey, the Claremont Hills Real Estate Expert

During the holidays, take time to walk in the wild with your family and friends.

Our family recently enjoyed both a visit to the Oakland Museum and a breath-taking hike through Muir Woods.  Here are more details on both adventures!

OAKLAND MUSEUM

A Walk in the Wild: Continuing John Muir’s Journey

Oakland Museum of California’s multi-sensory exhibit has extended holiday hours MON-TUES DEC 26-27 from 11am to 5pm

On Saturdays docent-led tours start at 3pm.  The exhibit runs through January 22, 2012 http://museumca.org/muir

“Explore the legacy of John Muir’s life and

how he continues to influence our relationship

with the natural world in the first-ever museum exhibition of its kind.”

Muir Woods National Monument

We hiked along a three-mile ridge trail that was breath-taking.  Many walking trails are available. Some of the old-growth redwood trees are more than 1,200 years old.  http://www.nps.gov/muwo/index.htm

At the turn of the century, the forest was doomed when plans were made to dam Redwood Creek and create a lake. President Theodore Roosevelt used the powers of the Antiquities Act on January 9, 1908, to create Muir Woods National Monument.  Kent, requested that it be named for noted conservationist John Muir.

“This is the best tree-lovers monument that

could possibly be found in all the forests

of the world.” – John Muir

Season of Miracles

If you’d enjoy an evening of music and inspiration, consider

attending a unique show this THURS DEC 15 at 7:30pm

at 1414 Walnut Street, Berkeley.

SEE ATTACHED FLIER for colorful details of the show

The show is produced by Bill Schechner, retired tv personality

and news reporter. Bill has a way with words and asks the best

questions ever.  It’s been my pleasure to have a professional

relationship with Bill as his realtor.

Happy Holidays,

Julie Nachtwey
